Dr. Julie SchellAssistant Vice Provost of Academic Technology
Dr. Julie Schell is the Assistant Vice Provost of Academic Technology and the Director of the Office of Academic Technology at The University of Texas at Austin. She is also an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Departments of Design and Educational Leadership and Policy, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses. Her work focuses on creating meaningful learning experiences through the three-way intersection of design, pedagogy, and technology. In her current studio, Julie and her students are partnering with generative AI to prototype speculative objects and environments designed to improve teaching and learning. She has over 25 years of experience in higher education and has held positions at the nation’s top research universities, including Stanford, Columbia, Harvard, and Yale. She completed her doctorate in Higher and Postsecondary Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, and a four-year postdoctoral fellowship in the Mazur Group at Harvard.

Evan DanielAcademic Technology Manager
Evan Daniel serves as the Academic Technology Manager at the University of Texas at Austin, where he helps lead the Office of Academic Technology. In this capacity, Evan is at the forefront of overseeing and leading the strategic adoption of generative AI tools for teaching and learning.
His ed-tech career spans more than a decade, where he has worked in roles and initiatives covering Academic Technology, Transformation & Strategy, Student Success, Executive Change Management, and Online Program Management. Evan earned his Master of Arts in International Studies from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas at Austin.
